Here is the finished product which I need to wait a couple of days to let cure etc before putting anything back (couch,etc…) lest the new (semi gloss selected for theoretical durability and resilience to showing damage..) surface get dinged…

You can see where they put in some new wood–there was a section where apparently someone went bonkers with an axe– but like an outdoor fence with new sections…hopefully it will be leaning in more as time moves on.

This whole thing was kicked into action when a candle overran and dumped a puddle of wax onto the carpet that was too large to be removed. So, this is a good outcome from that!!
